Early identification of children’s individual needs

Half day. The session will encourage participants to recognise the on going importance given to early identification as part of everybody’s role. This will include identifying the skills and knowledge required to carry out this role effectively. The role of the practitioner in relation to the SENCO and the parents will be considered and how working together can support the child’s development and learning. Participants will be encouraged to examine their own current practice in relation to early identification and how to ensure that children are identified accurately and consistently based on a secure knowledge of child development and the individual child.

Full day. The session will look at the importance of integrated working and the 2 year progress check and understanding the roles of different professionals in the identification of special educational needs. This will be linked to understanding the introduction of the single stage of identification in the proposed changes to the SEN Code of Practice and the introduction of a single Education and Health Care Plan.

Mimimum 10, maximum 30 participants
