The role of the SENCO in an era of change; an opportunity to explore and understand the way forward working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabled Children in the Early Years.

Course content

  • Focus on the key changes in the light of the Children and Families Bill (April 2015) and specifically the Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs alongside the Statutory duties of the EYFS (2014) and The Equality Act (2010).
  • Consider the role of all practitioners in partnership with the SENCO in delivering inclusive practice. Including the responsibilities of the key person in early identification.
  • Provide the opportunity to discuss and reflect on how to share and implement changes to practice. For example SEN Support, assess, plan , do, review, using one page profiles.
  • Consider opportunities and challenges presented by the changes and begin to develop solutions and identify actions, which will support the way forward.

This is a one day course for Early Years SENCO’s and setting leaders and lead SEND practitioners.

Minimum 10, maximum 30 participants.
