This course explores Autism Spectrum Disorders and Sensory difficulties in the Early Years and offers support strategies for Parents, Carers, Early Years Practitioners and Foundation stage teachers.
Course Content:
- The course looks at what an ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’ is, how it is identified and difficulties children may experience because of it.
- It also covers sensory difficulties and ways to provide and inclusive environment for children with these needs.
- It gives practical support strategies to help children access the environment more fully and supports practitioners and teachers understanding of ways to limit stress for the children.
- It discusses behaviour we may find challenging and ways to support children overcome difficulties in a more positive way.
Course Outcomes:
- To raise an awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders and how they can affect children
- To discuss ways on how to create an inclusive setting or classroom
- To provide a range of practical support strategies for children with ASD
- To understand ways to support positive behaviour for children with ASD
Course admin:
- Maximum number of attendees is 30.
- This is a One day course.
- As the session provides a sensory element, please be aware flash lighting is used and therefore the tutor needs to advised if anyone has epilepsy
- The course is suitable for most venues but will need an area where light can be dimmed or blocked out.
